As U.S. Presidential candidate hopefuls jockey themselves into positions for attracting media attention and coverage, political activist organizations nation-wide are strategizing how they can gain their share of publicity in the whole run-up process to electing the next U.S. President.
Tactics and strategies are already being planned and mapped-out by campaign organizers and political consultants. Those caucuses, and political action committees (PACS) lobbying for their prized agendas and favored issues are seeing how they can best leverage the election cycle just around the corner to get the national electorate’s eyeballs on their particular brand and program for change.
Imagine getting a major, nationally-recognized candidate with the credentials and resources to run a viable campaign getting on-board with an issue dear-to-you. He or she puts your pet-project’s ideas up front and center in the ongoing debates. Your group’s priorities for influencing policy decisions get adopted and rolled into the messages repeated on the nightly and daily news wires. Whether your guy or gal finally gets nominated on the party ticket or not, you know that the campaign process itself can raise your issue-specific proposals to top-of-mind awareness on a national stage.
Our chosen issue here @protectgrid.com –assuring electric power grid security for the American people – has already received a lot of endorsement from influential government authorities and policy-makers. Importantly, as of 2012, The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has included a nuclear HEMP Attack in an officially drafted National Planning Scenario (1.) (2.) This is good news for those of us familiar with, and concerned about our present status of critical infrastructure vulnerability to an EMP event.
And yet, the majority of Americans still remain ignorant about the potential for a protracted grid blackout and how this could impact our lives and society.
Advocates for raising broad awareness of the EMP threat among U.S. citizens can and should influence a major Presidential candidate to include and declare this critical issue as a top priority (SHOUT-OUT) when formulating the political party plank for the nominating convention to follow.
I’m convinced that a strong candidate who aspires to become the White House CEO of the next Administration would be ready and willing to differentiate their candidacy by taking a decisive stand on improving and upgrading U.S. National Security EMP preparedness.
Who is going to own and promote this initiative? Who’s charismatic speeches can engage, inspire every other candidate in the field to competitively take a position on this strategic, vital interest for our common defense?
Which candidate is going to chart the course for unifying the nation’s military, civilian and industrial sectors? Who can show they intend to recruit and organize support among the fractious and disparate stakeholder interests across the U.S.A. into an effective coalition that will succeed in protecting the U.S. electric grid?
And by making that unequivocal commitment, that person will contribute mightily to bringing focus to the national effort for achieving the energy security that America deserves! And who knows? They might just energize a winning campaign by front-loading this message now …
( 1.) This is an update since the publication of Dr. Peter Vincent Pry’s books on civil & military EMP preparedness. I read one of his articles (elsewhere) that the DHS had indeed moved a nuclear HEMP Attack from merely being a draft to the National Planning Scenario to officially being adopted and included. I am still searching for doc. citation.
